A History Lesson of Learning
Now more than ever there are tools available for anyone with an internet connection to learn whatever they want to learn at their own pace.
Whether it’s learning a language or building a house, learning on your own is often faster and more efficient than learning in a classroom.
The brief history for those of you that don’t know, the U.S. school system was imported from Prussia, modern day Germany.
The leaders of the nation were having a problem with producing obedient citizens, so they developed a system of compliance.
The Secretary of the Massachusetts Board of Education by the name of Horace Mann saw that system aligning with what he wanted to see for the U.S. system, extending to colleges and universities.
All of it was funded in part by John D. Rockefeller to the amount of $1M in 1902, the equivalent of nearly $34M today.
He was quoted as saying he wanted workers, not thinkers. So, the way the school system is set up is no accident.

Thankfully, today there are alternatives such as Montessori schools, home-schooling, unschooling, and the basic internet.
Even before all this, there were books. The school system as we know it is antiquated and is virtually obsolete as I write.
Think about how much time as well as money that could be saved. When you know better you do better. 🚀
